11 Night Pilgrimage Holiday Itinerary
Day One
Arrive at Amman, Queen Alia International Airport and after having been met transfer to your hotel for 3 nights
Day Two
After breakfast you will travel North to visit the site of the miracle of the Gaderene swine at Umm Qays, After this a visit to the famous Roman city of Jerash and then on to Aijloun, site of the magnificent hilltop Crusader Castle, a longish but rewarding day, then back to your hotel for dinner.
Day Three
After breakfast a city tour of Amman visiting the Temple of Hercules, Roman Theatre and old city, then down to Bethany Beyond the Jordan to the place of Baptism, where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist. Back to the hotel for dinner.
Day Four
After breakfast you will leave Amman and travel to Mount Nebo, site of Moses death and burial and a beautiful set of Byzantine mosaics then to Madaba, in whose Greek Orthodox church of St. George is to be found the wonderfully vivid 6th century mosaic map of Jerusalem and other holy sites. You will then continue down the King’ Highway to Karak Castle, which was the castle featured in the epic film ‘Kingdom of Heaven’. Then on to Petra, ‘Rose Red City Half as Old as Time’ for the next 4 nights.
Day Five
After breakfast a visit to Petra for a full day where you will visit the famous Treasury and the Monastery. After dinner you will be take part in the ‘Petra by Night’ experience, A unique and haunting experience which is not to be missed
Day Six
Today after breakfast you will visit one of Petra’s most spectacular sights, the High Place of Sacrifice. Here is a place steeped in history, where children and animals were sacrificed and although rejected by Abraham the practice was carried out by Manasseh who then repented and was mysteriously fulfilled in Christ
After this you will visit the tomb of the Roman Soldier and then have lunch at a restaurant inside Petra.
Before dinner you may wish to try a traditional Turkish Bath which can be arranged at a small extra charge, before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day Seven
A final visit to Petra in the morning and then during the afternoon a visit to Little Petra where you will have an opportunity to ride both horses and camels (at an extra charge) and then visit local sheep and goat herds.
Day Eight
The morning will be free to explore Wadi Mousa and perhaps shop in the ‘Souk’. After lunch you will depart for Wadi Rum and a 2 hour jeep ride in the desert. This whole area was ranged over and made famous by Lawrence of Arabia.
After your trip in the desert you will be taken on to Aqaba for dinner and overnight stay
Day Nine
After breakfast you will have a free day on the beach, swimming in the warm blue waters of the Red Sea, where one can see the some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the region, or tour Jordan’s southern most city Aqaba
Day Ten
After breakfast you will travel North to the Dead Sea where you will stay for the next 2 nights, with an opportunity to float in the lowest sea on Earth and to watch the Sunset over Bethlehem.
Day Eleven
At leisure in the morning then in the afternoon a visit to the hot springs at Ma’in
Day Twelve
After breakfast transfer to Queen Alia International Airport for you flight back to London.
